PerformFISH aims to increase the competitiveness and consumers engagement with gilthead sea bream and European sea bass farming in the Mediterranean by assessing the biological, technical, socio-economic, and environmental issues hindering its success. The multi-stakeholder, multi-disciplinary consortium composing the PerformFISH team will generate, validate, and apply information gathered from the accepted Key Performance Indicators for the aquaculture sector to ensure and promote the quality and certification of farmed fish as safe and healthy food with minimal ecological footprint, which allows reducing the European dependence on the importation of seafood and improving the economy in rural, peripheral regions.
