SPAROS concludes the Vertical Algas project with three product innovations

After four years of collaborative research under the Vertical Algas project, SPAROS has translated algae-based innovation into three new product developments, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and science-driven aquaculture nutrition.

After four years of collaborative research and innovation, the Vertical Algas project has officially reached its conclusion.

Integrated into the Blue Bioeconomy Pact, funded by PRR / NextGenerationEU, the project brought together 38 organisations to accelerate the development of algae-based products, processes and services for multiple industrial sectors.

Within this initiative, SPAROS co-coordinated the ALGAFEEDS subproject alongside SORGAL, focusing on the development of functional aquafeeds incorporating algae-derived ingredients for marine fish larvae and juveniles.

The project has successfully generated three product innovations at SPAROS: one new product – the Nebula Fast microdiet for first feeding of seabass and seabream; andimproved formulations for  WIN Flat and WIN Fast; thereby   translating scientific knowledge into practical applications for the aquaculture industry. These developments reinforce SPAROS’ commitment to transforming research into innovative nutritional solutions that improve fish seed for the aquaculture industry

SPAROS thanks all partners of the Vertical Algas consortium, and in particular Necton, AlgaPlus, SORGAL, GREENCOLAB, IPMA, CCMAR, S2AQUA, CIIMAR,  and B2E,  for four years of collaboration and looks forward to continuing to bring science-driven innovation to aquaculture.
