Dr.Β Jorge DiasΒ is scheduled to present at the upcoming Fish Nutrition and Feed Formulation Workshop hosted by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST/KBD) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on May 17th and 18th, 2023. He will be sharing his expertise on precision feeding in aquaculture, highlighting the necessary tools and strategies for achieving optimal results. This workshop is a significant event in the ongoing science-based partnership between the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture and KAUST/KBD, and promises to be an exciting opportunity for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
ππ Aquaculture Development Program – Key Focus ππ
The workshop aims to shed light on the Aquaculture Development Program (ADP), a government-sponsored initiative dedicated to the advancement of aquaculture in the Kingdom. With a target of reaching 530,000 tons of seafood by 2030, the ADP focuses on implementing applied research to drive the growth and improvement of the aquaculture sector in Saudi Arabia.
π¬π Cutting-Edge Research and Outcomes ππ¬
This two-day event will share the insights gained from five years of research on commercial aquaculture species, with a particular emphasis on fish nutrition and feed formulation. The technical outputs of the workshop will be invaluable to various stakeholders, including government authorities, national feed manufacturers, aquaculture researchers, academics, and international fish feed producers.
Some of the anticipated outcomes include:
1οΈβ£ Outstanding benchmarking results on growth performance, nutrient utilization, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of selected fish species at different grow-out sizes. 2οΈβ£ Optimization protocols for feed formulation, feeding patterns, fish nutrition, and energy budget. 3οΈβ£ Investigation of environmental effects on feed quality and feeding mechanisms during specific life stages of the species. 4οΈβ£ Utilization of digestibility results to enhance the growth performance and FCR of selected fish species in the Red Sea environment. 5οΈβ£ Novel formulation strategies for mariculture species based on consolidated results from extensive lab and field settings
