Advancing fish health monitoring through minimally invasive biomarkers

SPAROS researcher Cláudia Magalhães recently participated in an EAStalk webinar, presenting work being developed by SPAROS and its partners within the EU-funded IGNITION project.

The webinar explored the potential of minimally invasive biomarkers as tools to assess fish health, stress and resilience, supporting more effective health monitoring and improved animal welfare in aquaculture.

The session also featured Luiza Wasiewska from Tyndall National Institute, who presented insights into the practical application of these approaches through biosensor technologies.

As aquaculture continues to evolve, innovative monitoring tools can contribute to more sustainable production by enabling a better understanding of fish health and welfare and supporting more informed management decisions.
