DigiATLA drives digital transformation in Atlantic aquaculture by fostering capacity building in sustainable aquaculture and precision nutrition technologies. It tackles key challenges like limited digital integration, inefficiencies and environmental impacts, which hinder the sector’s resilience and competitiveness. By promoting the adoption of Industry 4.0, DigiATLA enhances digital capacity, equipping the professionals with tools and knowledge to improve efficiency, reduce environmental impacts and boost sustainability. Key outputs include digital training programs with online repository, pilot demonstrations and awareness initiatives on Industry 4.0 adoption. Beneficiaries are aquaculture professionals, researchers and educational communities. Through a transnational approach DigiATLA merges expertise from multiple regions to align strategies, share best practices and develop scalable, impactful and broad solutions for a sustainable and competitive Atlantic aquaculture sector.

DigiATLA Brings Digital Nutrition and FEEDNETICS to EAS Student Group in Ljubljana
On 30 September, DigiATLA organised the hands-on workshop “Digital Nutrition with FEEDNETICS” at EAS 2026 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Designed for MSc and PhD students and early-career researchers, the workshop explored how digital tools and nutritional modelling can support aquaculture research and decision-making.
The programme introduced the DigiATLA project and the role of Digital Nutrition in aquaculture, followed by key concepts in fish growth modelling and an overview of the FEEDNETICS framework and its applications. Participants learned how nutritional drivers and other factors influence fish growth and nutrient utilisation.
Through interactive exercises, participants used FEEDNETICS to simulate and compare different scenarios and interpret the resulting outputs. The workshop highlighted how digital nutritional models can function as virtual laboratories, supporting more efficient learning, feed evaluation and informed decision-making in aquaculture.

DigiATLA Partners Meet in Vigo to Review Progress and Exchange Knowledge
On 15-16 September, the DigiATLA partners gathered in Vigo, Spain, for a Steering Committee meeting to review the project’s progress, discuss upcoming activities, and align on the next steps.
The meeting also included valuable knowledge exchange sessions among partners. SPAROS delivered a training on Digital Nutritional Tools and the use of FEEDNETICS, providing practical insights into digital solutions for aquaculture nutrition. In addition, the French partners INRAE and IARA conducted a session on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies and demonstrated the use of their MEANS-InOut tool.
These collaborative exchanges strengthened the consortium’s shared expertise and will support the successful implementation of the project’s objectives.

XX National Aquaculture Congress in Vigo, Spain
DigiATLA was presented at the XX National Aquaculture Congress held in Vigo, Spain, as part of the programme focused on innovation and sustainable development in aquaculture.
The presentation, entitled “Fortaleciendo las competencias digitales para una acuicultura de precisión: El proyecto DigiATLA”, showcased how the project aim strengthen digital skills and support the transition towards precision aquaculture across the Atlantic Area.
This event provided an excellent opportunity to share DigiATLA’s objectives and activities with researchers, industry representatives and key stakeholders, reinforcing collaboration and knowledge exchange within the aquaculture sector.

The DigiATLA consortium met in Olhão (Portugal) for the in‑person kick‑off meeting, marking the official start of the project’s activities. Over two days, partners aligned on objectives, work packages and the roadmap for the upcoming years.
